Wolfgang Pauli, this isn't right. It isn't even wrong.

Interface Principles

I stress certain elements of my designs.

  • Impression: designs aim to be self-explanatory.
  • Simplicity: users don't want to go through documentation to make something work.
  • Extensibility: allowing developers to build on existing code.
  • Catering for the audience: sound simple? Not quite universally done. I write for my clients, not myself.

Web Design Emphasis

  • Standards: ensure the same page looks the same on all browsers.
  • Speed: keeping pages simple helps them load quicker.
  • Prepare information for the web: many people prefer information to be put in bullet points when reading on the web.
  • Optimize for search engines.
